For over fifty years, Japanese animator and director Hayao Miyazaki has enchanted the world with films such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and The Boy and the Heron. While his films are set in fantastical worlds, they almost without exception contain autobiographical elements and serve as reflections of society.

In Miyazaki: Spirit of Nature, viewers are introduced (or reintroduced) through excerpts from his work to the tireless, obsessive, and mysterious filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, whose oeuvre is deeply rooted in the relationship between humanity and nature.
